Roger Ellis was born in the Ottawa Valley and graduated with Honours in Dentistry from the University of Toronto in 1956. After ten years in solo practice in Cambridge, ON, and a year-long sojourn to Europe to consider options for an ongoing dental career, Roger completed two years of postgraduate studies and received a Diploma in Dental Public Health and an MSc (Health Administration) in 1969.

Dr. Ellis’ academic career encompassed nearly 20 years; teaching full time at the U of T Faculty of Dentistry, and at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Dentistry where he became Head of the Department of Dental Health Care (which included the Dental Hygiene Program). A move ‘back east’ saw him join the RCDSO, which he left in 1996 after two years as Deputy Registrar and six years as Registrar to join ROI Corporation. After twelve years of exemplary service Dr. Ellis has retired from active participation but remains with ROI Corporation as a consultant.

Roger keeps connected with the dentists and the dental profession through his memberships in the ODA, CDA and CSPHD; and through his Fellowships in the Royal College of Dentists (Canada), International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy and Academy of Dentistry International. When he can find the time, Roger’s hobbies include photography, jogging and shelling.
